What is a FIT file?

FIT (Flexible and Interoperable Data Transfer) files are the standard format used by Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, and other cycling computers to store ride data including power, heart rate, cadence, GPS route, and more.

How to Connect

Complete Your Ride

Finish and save your ride on your cycling computer as you normally would.

Export Your FIT File

Export the .fit file from your device or companion app:

  1. 1Go to connect.garmin.com and open your activity
  2. 2Click the gear icon (βš™) in the top right corner
  3. 3Select "Export File" to download the .fit file

Transfer FIT File to Your Phone

Transfer the downloaded .fit file from your computer to your phone β€” use email, a cloud service like Google Drive or iCloud Drive, or a USB cable.

Open WattsUp

Open the WattsUp app and navigate to the Calendar tab.

Tap Upload

Tap the upload button and select your .fit file from your device storage.

Activity Imported

Your activity will be processed and added to your history. Your AI coach can now provide personalised feedback on this ride.

  • β€’Any .fit file from any supported cycling computer will work β€” not just Garmin.
  • β€’This is the only way to get AI coaching feedback on activities from a Garmin device.
  • β€’You can upload multiple past activities to build up your coaching history.
