Troubleshooting Sync Issues

Fix problems with activity syncing from connected devices

Quick Checks First

  • Ensure you're connected to the internet
  • Check that your device connection is still active in Settings → Integrations
  • Try force closing and reopening the WattsUp app
  • Wait a few minutes - syncing can take time after completing an activity

Common Sync Issues

Activities not syncing from Garmin

If your Garmin activities aren't appearing:

  • Check Garmin Connect app to ensure activity uploaded there first
  • Verify WattsUp has permission to access Garmin activities
  • Go to Settings → Integrations → Garmin and reconnect if needed
  • Try manually triggering a sync by pulling down on the activities list
  • Check that the activity is a cycling activity (other sports may not sync)

Activities not syncing from Wahoo

If your Wahoo workouts aren't appearing:

  • Ensure your ELEMNT/device has synced to Wahoo Cloud first
  • Check WattsUp has permission to access Wahoo workouts
  • Go to Settings → Integrations → Wahoo and reconnect if needed
  • Verify your Wahoo device is connected to WiFi or paired with your phone
  • Try manually syncing your ELEMNT device

Old activities syncing but not new ones

If past activities synced but new ones don't:

  • Your device connection may have expired - reconnect in Settings
  • Check if you need to re-authorize WattsUp's access
  • Some platforms require periodic re-authentication for security
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device completely

Duplicate activities appearing

If you see duplicate activities:

  • You may have multiple device integrations connected
  • Check if the same activity synced from different sources
  • You can delete duplicate activities by swiping left on them
  • Consider disconnecting redundant device integrations

Missing power data or heart rate

If activity synced but data is missing:

  • Check the original activity in Garmin/Wahoo has the data
  • Some data fields may not be recorded by all devices
  • Ensure sensors were properly connected during the ride
  • Try re-syncing the activity (delete and let it sync again)

How to Manually Sync

  1. Open the WattsUp app
  2. Go to the Activities or Calendar tab
  3. Pull down on the screen to refresh
  4. Wait for the sync indicator to complete
  5. Your latest activities should appear
