App won't open.

Troubleshoot issues with the WattsUp app not opening or crashing. Almost always resolved by one of these quick fixes.

2 min read·May 14, 2026

Most startup issues are resolved by a force-close or restart. The app has never been recorded as broken on a live build — every reported crash has been a cache issue, a network timeout, or a device-level permission problem.

Try the quick fixes first.

Quick check — try this first
  1. 01Force close the app completely and reopen it.
  2. 02Restart your device.
  3. 03Check for app updates in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  4. 04Ensure you have a stable internet connection.

Common causes

Symptom · 01

"App crashes immediately on launch"

Likely cause

Outdated app version, corrupted cache, or missing permissions.

Fix

Update to the latest version from your app store. Clear the app cache (Settings → Apps → WattsUp → Clear Cache). Restart your device. If on Android, check if the app has all required permissions. Try uninstalling and reinstalling — your data is safe in the cloud.

Symptom · 02

"App freezes on loading screen"

Likely cause

Network timeout or connectivity issue.

Fix

Check your internet connection (WiFi or mobile data). Force close and reopen the app. Try switching between WiFi and mobile data. Wait 30 seconds — sometimes the initial load takes time. Clear app cache and try again.

Symptom · 03

"App won't open after an update"

Likely cause

Device OS out of date or minimum system requirements not met.

Fix

Restart your device first. Check if your device OS is up to date. Ensure you meet minimum requirements: iOS 15+ (iPhone 8 or newer), Android 8.0+ (2GB RAM). Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Symptom · 04

"Blank white or black screen"

Likely cause

Content loading timeout or render issue.

Fix

Wait 10–15 seconds — the content may still be loading. Check your internet connection. Force close and reopen the app. Clear app cache. Reinstall the app if the issue continues — your account data is stored in the cloud.

How to reinstall

1.

Your data is safely stored in the cloud — reinstalling won't lose your activities or settings.

2.

Delete the WattsUp app, restart your device, search 'WattsUp' in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), reinstall, then sign in with your existing account.
