Fix problems with Wahoo activity syncing

Garmin Activities Cannot Auto-Sync

Due to Garmin's Developer API policies, WattsUp is unable to automatically sync activities from Garmin. To get AI coaching feedback on your Garmin rides, you'll need to manually upload your .fit file.

Quick Checks First

  • Ensure you're connected to the internet
  • Check that your Wahoo connection is still active in Settings β†’ Integrations
  • Try force closing and reopening the WattsUp app
  • Wait a few minutes β€” syncing can take time after completing an activity

Common Wahoo Sync Issues

Activities not syncing from Wahoo

If your Wahoo workouts aren't appearing:

  • Ensure your ELEMNT device has synced to Wahoo Cloud first
  • Check WattsUp has permission to access Wahoo workouts
  • Go to Settings β†’ Integrations β†’ Wahoo and reconnect if needed
  • Verify your Wahoo device is connected to WiFi or paired with your phone
  • Try manually syncing your ELEMNT device

Old activities synced but not new ones

If past activities synced but new ones don't:

  • Your Wahoo connection may have expired β€” reconnect in Settings
  • Check if you need to re-authorize WattsUp's access
  • Wahoo requires periodic re-authentication for security
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Wahoo account completely

Duplicate activities appearing

If you see duplicate activities:

  • You may have uploaded a .fit file for an activity that also synced from Wahoo
  • Check if the same activity exists from multiple sources
  • You can delete duplicate activities by swiping left on them
  • Consider removing redundant uploads

Missing power data or heart rate

If an activity synced but data is missing:

  • Check the original activity in the Wahoo app has the data recorded
  • Some data fields may not be recorded by all devices
  • Ensure sensors were properly connected during the ride
  • Try re-syncing the activity (delete it and let it sync again)

How to Manually Refresh Wahoo Sync

  1. Open the WattsUp app
  2. Go to the Calendar tab
  3. Pull down on the screen to refresh
  4. Wait for the sync indicator to complete
  5. Your latest Wahoo activities should appear
